Payments and refunds
This page explains how you pay Taxi Foundry, how Stripe is involved, what happens when a payment is late, and when you get your money back. It is part of the Terms of service.
The short version
- Rent and the first payment are in US dollars; our share of cash and wallet rides is in the currency of those rides. You pay by card through Stripe or by bank transfer.
- Card details go to Stripe and never to us.
- The invoice is the record of what you owe, and it does not change after it is issued.
- If your space is not ready within 72 hours, or you cancel within 7 days of its being ready and before its first ride, you get a full refund.
- After that, rent already used and the activation fee are not refunded unless the law, or a fault of ours, says so.
- A late payment pauses your space. It never deletes your data.
Who handles your card
Card payments are processed by Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. in the European Economic Area and Stripe, Inc. in the United States, with its group companies). When you pay, you are sent to Stripe’s own payment page. The card number goes to Stripe, not to us. We receive the result of the payment, the kind of card (credit, debit or prepaid) and the country it was issued in, Stripe’s risk assessment, and Stripe’s references to you and your saved card.
Stripe may also ask you for information to check a payment, and it uses payment data for its own purposes, as Stripe’s privacy policy explains. Stripe’s terms for businesses that use its services are at stripe.com/legal.
Invoices, currency and tax
Every payment is for an invoice. The first invoice is made when you choose a plan, and later ones about a week before each term ends. Rent invoices are in US dollars. Our share of cash, wallet and other non-card rides is invoiced once a month, after the month ends, in the currency of those rides, and falls due 14 days after the invoice date. If your card or bank account is in another currency, your bank converts the amount and may charge a fee. Prices are before tax. If tax applies, it is added on the invoice at the rate that applies to the sale, and we ask for your legal name, address and tax number before your first payment. You can download your invoices from your account.
Paying by card
At the first payment you agree, on Stripe’s page, that your card is saved for the next invoices. We then charge it three days before an invoice is due, one day before, and on the due day, if it has not been paid. If your bank asks you to confirm a payment (for example with 3-D Secure), we e-mail you a link. If we have changed the terms and you have not yet accepted them, we do not charge your card by ourselves; we e-mail you the link to accept.
You can remove the saved card at any time from your account, with your device key. After that nothing is charged by itself, the plan keeps running, and you pay each invoice by hand.
Paying by bank transfer
The invoice shows our bank account and your activation code, which you write as the reference. We record the deposit against the invoice, and the invoice counts as paid only then. A reference can be used only once. Bank fees and charges are yours.
If a payment fails or is late
We remind you after the due day. From the 14th day, some actions that cost us money or widen your space (new app builds, new domains, bulk campaigns and new staff accounts) are held. If the invoice is still unpaid about 30 days after its due day, your space is paused: your apps and website stop serving your riders and drivers. Your data is kept. When you pay, the space comes back. We never delete your data because of a late payment.
Refunds
- If your space is not ready 72 hours after you paid, you get a full refund.
- If you cancel within 7 days after your space is ready, and before its first real ride, you get a full refund.
- Otherwise the rent already used and the activation fee are not refunded, unless the law requires it or the problem was ours.
- A yearly term is paid in advance. If you cancel in the middle of the year, nothing is returned, except for a fault of ours.
Refunds go back the way you paid, and are shown on the invoice as refunds; the invoice itself does not change. Card refunds can take several days to reach your statement, depending on your bank. For a bank transfer, we send the money back to the account it came from. Your rights under the law of your country remain.
Disputes and chargebacks
Please write to us before you dispute a payment with your bank; we answer quickly. If you do dispute a card payment, Stripe and the bank may ask us for proof, such as the invoice, the records of your account and the terms you accepted, and we give them what they need. We may pause the space while a dispute is open. Fees that a bank or Stripe charges us for a dispute that is lost may be added to your next invoice.
Card payments from your riders
If you turn on card payments for your riders, you connect your own Stripe account from your staff panel (a “Standard” account). Your riders pay you, through Stripe, under Stripe’s agreement with you (Stripe Connected Account Agreement). Stripe checks your identity and business; we receive only the status of your account. We never hold their money and never see their card numbers. When a rider pays by card, Stripe takes our share as an application fee, at the percentage in your plan, and sends the rest to your Stripe account. You answer to your riders for receipts, refunds and disputes, and you pay Stripe’s fees. A refund you make to a rider returns our share in proportion. Cash, wallet and other gateway rides are counted by your space, and our share goes on your monthly invoice.
AI help credit
The AI help in your staff panel (it translates trip chats and help conversations, and can write a first reply that a person then takes over) runs on credit that you buy in packs of US$10, US$50 or US$200, by card through Stripe. Each purchase is invoiced. Each answer uses a little of your credit, and the AI help stops when the credit is used up, until you add more. The text sent for an answer goes to our AI provider (see the Privacy notice). Credit can be used only for the AI help and cannot be exchanged for money, except where the law requires it. If we charge you wrongly, we put it right.
Changes to prices
A price change reaches you only at a renewal, with 30 days’ notice. Until then you keep the price of the plan version you chose.
